In September, control officers took a 2-year-old pregnant pit bull off the streets. Her previous owners decided that they didn’t need the dog anymore. So the officers took her to an ordinary shelter.
Soon the representatives of Pits & Giggles Rescue, a non-profit organization which provides maternity and postnatal care for pregnant bully breed dogs and their puppies, have taken the pregnant pit bull to their dog pound.
The key mission of the organization is to raise awareness of the importance of responsible spay and neuter programs. The organization helps mama dogs to give birth to puppies and then tries to find new homes for all of them. In the process, volunteers cooperate with photographers in order to take photo shoots, which help to catch people’s interest and find a new house for animals.
Mama Pickles, that’s the nickname of the dog, had a big belly, so it was difficult for her to do even the simplest moves.
Lauren Casteen Sykes is a volunteer and a photographer at Enchanted Hills Photography. When she got to know about Mama Pickles she realized that should help the dog. So she arrived at the rescue center to do a maternity photoshoot.
Lauren said that the dog was so lovely she looked like a true model and kept trying to express her love and delight.
Over a short period of time, Mama Pickles gave birth to eight puppies. So the next photoshoot was with her lovely babies.
But for the next few months Mama Pickles along with her eight puppies will stay in the shelter as the puppies are small. After this, they will be adopted.
Lauren also had a dog, named Remington Rose, from this shelter, which makes her life full of joy and happiness.
