Laurent Simons is a child prodigy. At the age of 9 years, he is studying electrical engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology. And in December he will gain a bachelor’s degree.
After this Lauren plans to embark on a Ph.D. program in electrical engineering and gain a medicine degree.
All grandparents believe that their grandkids are genius. So Lydia and Alexander Simons thought, that their parents overestimated Lauren’s abilities.
But teachers in school were totally excited when Laurent completed test after test. He has enormous abilities in quick learning.
Lydia and Alexander are doctors, but they also can’t explain Lauren’s talent. But Lydia is sure, it’s all because of fish. She ate it a lot during pregnancy.
Sjoerd Hulshof, education director of the TUE bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, says that Laurent is the fastest student they have ever had.
Many universities noticed his progress and made him offers for studying.
But the parents are worried. They want Laurent to find a balance between being a child and his talents.
Nevertheless, he likes playing with a smartphone and his dog Sammy and looks forward to a two-week vacation to Japan, like an ordinary child.
